Defining Educational Innovation

Throughout years new pedagogical ideas have appeared in the educational system, but not all those have had the same result for all teachers’ purposes. Although cultural, economic, political, and other aspects can affect the effectiveness of one method, as teachers, we should have the knowledge about how to innovate the syllabus in order the students understand better what are we trying to teach. So, educational change should be part of the basic intellectual preparation of all language teaching professional, in this case new strategies could be failed if educators do not know how to use activities or develop well their ideas, or they do not how to use those activities in a specific group (taking into consideration age, gender, place, etc) because this process depends on students needs, interests and the needed to succeed.
So, in this case, different kind of teaching process or methodologies have been used, some of them have helped facilitators in courses or in formal education to internalize information easily. All people who work in the teaching area should realize that we have to innovate, to create new ways for teaching; we have to look for better tools or ways about how people (students) can get better the information and how they can use them in their daily lives with a concrete purpose (job purposes, daily activities , and so on). The important point here is teachers have to select the way and the material in which he/she is going to teach, but learners have to be the main participants in order to select the content and material they really want to learn. Nowadays, teachers’ techniques are the same than many years ago; those are being used with different results (better or worst in some cases), but in the future, we should be very careful when looking for new ideas or methodology so, we can discover when it is going to be usefulness in a specific environment. We have to be aware about educational changes.

This woman was one symbol of people who want to be successful in life without care other people’s thoughts, in the time when black people did not have the same opportunities as the rest (for instance use the public library)

Working as teacher, she realized the quality of education that her children were receiving in prestigious private schools was not the best, it convinced her that children deserved better than what was passing for acceptable education. That is why she opened her own school using a participative methodology in her classroom.

Marva showed people that teaching is based on teaching children the values in order to give their points of view and to express their own opinion; that children are ready to participate in classroom discussions developing their reasoning abilities.

She decided not to follow the same rules or ways of teaching as the rest of professionals because those were focus just in teachers’ points of view did not taking into consideration what the students think and need. She demonstrated that student’s participation is one way to improve society development because children will be able to analyze and criticize social issues given their perspective and maybe they should have the solution of future problems
